WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team will open the 2018-19 season ranked No. 8 in the 2018 D2SIDA Southeast Regional Poll and will tip-off on Friday, November 9, against Augusta on the road in the Peach Belt Conference/Conference Carolinas Challenge in Christenberry Fieldhouse beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs, picked second in the league's preseason poll, are coming a 23-9 season including a 15-5 mark in conference play while claiming the 2018 Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship.  Barton also returns seven letter winners including three starters from a squad which advanced to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament.

Barton, under 30-year mentor Wendee Saintsing, fell to North Georgia by an 81-76 score in the opening round of the playoffs last season in Jefferson City, Tenn.

The Bulldogs are led by senior forward Kianna Wynn (Knightdale, N.C.) and senior guard Dinah Neal (Browns Summit, N.C.).  Wynn was an all-league honoree who led the squad in both scoring (17.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg) while Neal averaged 11.7 points per contest and started all 32 games.

Augusta (4-22) will look for improvement this season.  On Saturday, Barton will take on UNC Pembroke (10-17) beginning at 2:00 p.m., on the second day of the challenge.
