Barton’s Martin named to 2018 NCCSIA College Division All-State Softball Team

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Barton College sophomore Taylor Martin has been named to the 2018 NCCSIA College Division All-State Softball Team, the organization announced Monday.

Martin was voted as a Second Team infielder by members of the North Carolina College Sports Information Association after leading the Lady Bulldogs and ranking third in Conference Carolinas with a .380 batting average.

The Richlands, N.C., resident also ranked among the league's top 10 in stolen bases (17), runs scored (32) and on-base percentage (.437). She helped Barton lead the conference as a team in batting average (.303) and scoring (5.9 runs per game).

Martin appeared in 51 of Barton's 52 games, starting 49 of them, primarily at shortstop. She produced 14 multi-hit games and four multi-steal games.

A total of 24 players were named to the two NCCSIA All-State Teams for the College Division (NCAA Division II, III, NAIA) representing institutions throughout North Carolina. Martin was one of two players representing Conference Carolinas schools.
