WILSON, N.C. – It took just over an hour for the Barton men's volleyball team to secure a 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-19) win over the Falcons of Pfeiffer University in Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (11-4, 9-2) committed just 10 attack errors and hit .418 on offense, while totaling six blocks and forcing Pfeiffer (0-9, 0-9) to a .000 hitting percentage in the match.
In the first set, Barton opened up the game on a 15-5 run and closed the set with seven unanswered points to claim a 25-10 win. BC once again led early on in the second set as back-to-back service aces from junior Michael Perez put the team ahead 13-7.
The two sides traded points before a Pfeiffer service error sparked a 9-1 run to end the set with Barton ahead by 12 points. The third and final set was tightly contested in the early going with the Bulldogs ahead by just a point with the score 9-8.
Perez led the Bulldogs on a 7-0 run from the service line as BC built a lead that was too much for Pfeiffer to overcome.
Senior Jonathan Novoa-Miralles chipped in seven kills, followed by five kills from sophomore Vasilis Mandilaris in just one set of play. Senior setter Federico Pagliara also saw action in just one set, totaling 15 assists and four digs, while freshman Noah Harmon turned in 18 assists and seven digs.
