HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College freshman Angelos Mandilaris has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Player of the Week for the Week Eight of the 2017 season, the league announced Monday.
Mandilaris, led the Bulldogs in kills in both matches played as the team went 2-0 during the week. Barton began the week with a 3-1 road win over rival University of Mount Olive in which he totaled 16 kills with a .414 hitting percentage and eight digs.
He followed that performance by leading the Bulldogs to a non-conference win over Coker College on Friday night. The Chalkida, Greece native had 11 kills with 11 digs for his first career double-double to go along with three service aces.
For the week, Mandilaris averaged 3.86 kills per set while hitting at a .367 clip. He also registered 2.71 digs per set and totaled four services aces and four blocks.
The player of the week award is the first for Mandilaris in his young career and the sixth for Barton in the program's six-year history.
Mandilaris and the Bulldogs return to action on this weekend when they host two Conference Carolinas opponents in Wilson Gymnasium. Barton welcomes Pfeiffer University on Friday for a 7 p.m. first serve before squaring off against Belmont Abbey College on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
