HIGH POINT, N.C. – For the second time this year, Barton junior Micah Clemons has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Clemons, a native of Greenville, N.C., won the weight throw at the Vince Brown Invitational with a school-record 59'0" over the weekend in Newport News, Va. The mark currently tops the league and is ranked No. 29 in the nation. Clemons also qualified provisionally to the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in the weight throw and finished fourth in the shot put as well (48'0") this past Sunday.
Clemons, who also won the weekly honor on January 15, is a 2018 All-Conference Carolinas honoree and a USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Indoor All-Southeast Region selection in both the shot put and weight throw. At the league championships last year, Clemons finished second and third in the shot and put and weight throw, respectively.
North Greenville University's Jackson Junkins was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. In addition, Clemons wins the weekly award for the third time in his collegiate career.
The Barton indoor track and field teams next compete in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championships on Sunday, February 17, at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
