HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Larry Russell has been named the first Conference Carolinas Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the 2018-19 season, league officials announced earlier today.

Russell, a senior from Sicklerville, N.J., provisionally qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division II Championships with a 7.25-meter mark (23'9") in the long jump at the JDL Kick-off Classic this past Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C.  Russell also finished second in the event in addition to a fourth-place finish in the high jump (2.0 meters, 6'7").

Russell is a three-time NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track and Field All-American – 2017 and 2018 in the long jump and 2017 in the high jump – and was named Conference Carolinas Indoor Field Athlete of the Year last season after winning league titles in both the long jump and high jump.  Russell holds indoor program records in the following events:  high jump (7'0"), long jump (25'0") and triple jump (47'3").

Russell was named the 2018 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Southeast Region Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year as well.
