HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College sophomore Micah Clemons has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Clemons was honored after posting top-10 finishes in both the weight throw and shot put at East Tennessee State University's Buccaneer Invitational.
The Greenville, N.C., resident placed fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.74 meters. Clemons was the only NCAA Division II competitor in the top nine, and his mark was less than a tenth of a meter off his own school record. He added an eighth-place showing out of 35 in the shot put with a throw of 14.44 meters.
Clemons currently leads the league and ranks second in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region in the weight throw, and stands third in the conference and sixth in the region in the shot put.
His selection keeps the award with Barton for a second straight week. Junior teammate Larry Russell was chosen last week for his performance in the long jump.
Clemons is receiving the honor for the first time in his career.
