Barton men’s tennis wins back-to-back matches with 7-0 sweep of Shaw

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (3-6) picked up its second straight victory with a 7-0 sweep of Shaw (0-4) Monday afternoon at the Bulldogs' complex.

The Bulldogs won at all nine spots – six singles and three doubles matches – including sophomore Diego Agudelo's (Bogata, COLOMBIA) come-from-behind win over Shaw's Diego Leal (Bucaramanga, COLOMBIA) by a score of 0-6, 6-2 and 10-6.

Joining Agudelo with wins in singles and doubles play for the Bulldogs were junior Rory Gaydon (Darlington, ENGLAND), sophomores Alessandro Gerbino (Borlange, SWEDEN), Oscar Marmestedt (Akersberga, SWEDEN) and Hugh Ryder (Dartmouth, ENGLAND) and freshman James Kelly (Mazabuka, ZAMBIA).

The doubles duo of Kelly and Gaydon has won three straight matches together including a victory today at No. 2 over the Bears' Diego Nino (Bogata, COLOMBIA) and Destiny Udofe (Brampton, Ontario, CANADA), 6-3.

The Barton men's tennis team returns to the court on Thursday, March 7, against West Liberty in Hilton Head Island, S.C., starting at Noon while Shaw faces Virginia State on the road on Friday, March 14, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
