Barton men’s tennis suffers loss to Bluefield State, 5-1, Sunday at home

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (1-6) took a 5-1 loss to Bluefield State (3-2) Sunday afternoon at The Greenfield School.

The Bulldogs did pick up the point at doubles play with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. 

Barton junior Rory Gaydon (Darlington, ENGLAND) and freshman James Kelly (Mazabuka, ZAMBIA) won at second doubles over Arthur Figuiere (Paris, FRANCE) and Luke Busse (Landsberg am Lech, GERMANY), 6-3, while sophomore Alessandro Gerbino (Borlange, SWEDEN) and sophomore Hugh Ryder (Dartmouth, ENGLAND) prevailed at third doubles:  6-3 over Tom Schmieta (Hanover, GERMANY) and Carlos Thireau (Barcelona, SPAIN).

Barton remains at home to host Edinboro (Pa.) on Saturday, March 2, at 10:00 a.m., while Bluefield State hosts the University of the District of Columbia next Sunday beginning at Noon.
