Barton’s season ends with 5-1 loss to No. 3 Columbus State in NCAA Southeast Regional

COLUMBUS, GA. – The Barton men's tennis team's 2017 season came to end on Saturday afternoon following a 5-1 loss to nationally-ranked Columbus State University in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.

Columbus State, ranked No. 3 in the latest ITA National Poll and No. 1 in the Southeast Region, garnered a 2-1 lead after doubles play on its home court.

Barton's No. 1 tandem of freshman Julian Bosch and sophomore Jesus Gil collected an 8-4 win over the No. 22 doubles team in the nation in CSU's Maciej Kierkus and KP Pannu, the duo's fifth straight victory.

The Cougars won three consecutive singles matches to seal the victory and advance. However, Barton did not go quietly as three matches were left unfinished with Barton having won a set, forced a tiebreaker or tied.

The Bulldogs conclude the season with a 15-9 overall record, the most wins for a Barton men's tennis team since the 2006 season.
