Greenville, N.C. – Senior Jake McCartney picked up a doubles victory and a singles victory in Barton's 6-1 loss to NCAA Division I opponent East Carolina University on Tuesday afternoon at the River Birch Tennis Complex.

One point is awarded in doubles against NCAA Division I competition, and East Carolina earned that point by claiming wins in two of the three matchups. Barton's duo of McCartney and freshman Rory Gaydon were able to defeat ECU's No. 3 doubles team by a score of 6-4 to give BC positive momentum.

In singles competition, the Pirates clinched the match with five separate wins. Freshmen Alexandre Alves and Ermanno Galimberti played ECU tough in the No. 6 and No.5 positions, respectively, while McCartney was a 1-6, 7-5, 10-7 winner in the No. 2 spot.

Barton will match up once again with a Division I opponent when it travels to take on UNC Charlotte on Saturday, April 15 in its final regular season contest.
