Men’s tennis falls to Division I Campbell University in spring season opener

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team was unable to overcome a tough task in its spring season opener, falling 7-0 to NCAA Division I Campbell University on Friday afternoon at the Nisbett Tennis Center.

One point is awarded in doubles against NCAA Division I competition, and Campbell earned that point by claiming wins in two of the three matchups. The doubles duo of sophomore Jesus Gil and freshman Julian Bosch were able to defeat Campbell's No. 2 doubles team by a score of 6-4 to give BC positive momentum.

The Fighting Camels of Campbell won all six singles contest to secure the shutout on its home court. However, at No. 1, senior Jake McCartney forced a tiebreaker in both the first and second game before falling 7-6 (7-2) and 7-6 (7-3) to Lukas Chaefer.

Barton is scheduled to take on Augusta University tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Sumter, S.C.
