Men’s tennis shutout by Division I East Carolina in regular season finale

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Barton College men's tennis team ended its 2015-16 regular season schedule with a 7-0 loss to Division I East Carolina University on Wednesday afternoon.

Playing by NCAA Division I scoring, East Carolina won all three doubles matches to lead 1-0 over Barton. BC's No. 1 duo of Jake McCartney and Yaxi Pintado hung tough but fell 7-5 in the top spot.

In singles play, ECU swept all six matchups but not without a fight from Barton. McCartney fell 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 1, followed by a 6-4, 7-5 loss by Daniel Radu at No. 5 singles. Pintado, the reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, led early in each set but was defeated 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) in the No. 4 position.

Barton will now begin preparation for the Conference Carolinas Tournament which begins on Thursday, April 28 in Sumter, S.C.
