Bulldogs record 10th win with 5-4 triumph over King

BRISTOL, TENN. – The Barton College men's tennis team won its 10th match of the season of Saturday morning defeating King University 5-4 on the road.

The Bulldogs held a 2-1 lead after doubles play after wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The duo of juniors Jake McCartney and Yaxi Pintado won 8-7 (7-3) at No. 2 followed by a 8-7 (8-6) win at No. 3 by the team of seniors Nick Genest and Daniel Radu.

Radu followed his doubles performance with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles before King even the match at 3-3 with victories at No. 3 and No. 1 singles.

Pintado won at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-3 as the Tornado once again evened the score with a three-set win at No. 2 singles. Freshman Jesus Gil came up big in the N. 6 singles spot, winning 6-3, 6-4 to give Barton its second straight victory and fifth in Conference Carolinas play.

Barton hosts Southern Wesleyan at the Barton Tennis Complex on Friday, April 8 before ending the regular season against Pfeiffer University at home on Saturday, April 9 in Wilson.
