GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton College men's swimming team set several individual best-times on Friday against Limestone College. The Saints would come-away victorious in the overall team score portion of the meet, 208-44.
Sophomore Robert Zamorano registered a season-best time for the Bulldogs in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing second in a time of 10:14.21. Zamorano would also record a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.41).
Freshman Jaksa Gabric set his season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing third (49.30) and would also record a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:00.39.
The team of Gabric, Michael Allo, Luis Reyes, and Harrison Strutz notched a third-place finish for Barton in the 200-yard medley relay (1:40.00). Gabric. Reyes, Strutz, and James Day narrowly missed setting a record in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 3:20.75, which just missed the mark of 3:20.74.
Reyes, a sophomore for BC, set his season-best time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.45). His teammate, Jonathan Moss, finished right behind him in the event. The freshman registered a season-best time of 2:09.61, which was good for a fifth-place finish.
A sophomore, Day was the fastest of three BC swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.14), finishing ahead of Reyes (1:52.61) and Allo (2:02.38).
Moss notched a second-place finish for Barton in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.00), which would also be a season-best mark. Allo finished fourth for the Bulldogs in the event (2:22.14), while freshman Cameron Cardenas finished sixth with a time of 2:38.24.
Barton returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Howard University for a 1 p.m. meet in Rocky Mount, N.C. The Bulldogs then host Hampden-Sydney College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.
