WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College swimming program is set to begin its second season of competition on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Harrison Family YMCA in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Barton will have all of its home events hosted at the Harrison Family YMCA for a second-consecutive year. The Bulldogs will host both UNC Pembroke and William Peace University at 1 p.m. The women's team will compete against both the Braves and Pacers, the men's team will face just the Pacers.

"We are excited about our dual meet schedule for 2017-2018," said second-year head coach Tyler Ziegler. "We have created a challenging schedule that will push our swimmers to compete at a high level and give our athletes the experience needed to prepare for Conference Championships."

The Bulldogs take to the road for their next three competitions, kicking their road trip off with trips to University of Mary Washington (10/28), Catholic University (11/4), and Limestone College (11/10).

BC returns home for back-to-back meets on Saturday, Nov. 11 against Howard University at 1 p.m. and then again on Nov. 18 as the men's team hosts Hampden-Sydney College at 1 p.m.

Barton will compete twice in the month of December, participating in the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va.

The new year will see the Bulldogs head to Salisbury, N.C. for a meet against Catawba College on Friday, Jan. 12 beginning at 4 p.m.

In their final tune up before the postseason, BC will face Chowan University and St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C. on Jan. 13. The women's squad will swim against both Chowan and St. Andrews, while the men's squad will compete against St. Andrews.

New for the 2017-18 season is the addition of women's swimming by Conference Carolinas as its 21st championship sport. The league will include five institutions that will sponsor women's swimming, Barton, Converse College, Emmanuel College, King University, and Limestone.

The inaugural Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming Championship will be held in conjunction with the 2018 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships, which are scheduled to take place February 14-17, 2018 in Charlotte, N.C. at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center.

The men's team will compete in just the BMC for the 2017-18 campaign and will participate in the same four-day event in Charlotte.
