GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (5-10, 3-3) fought hard but second-ranked Limestone (14-0, 6-0) proved too much as the Saints came away with a 20-10 victory Sunday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Saints Field.

Limestone's Larson Sundown (Basom, N.Y.) scored a match-high seven goals and increased his team-leading total to 53 scores while Clark Walter (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, CANADA) added four goals as the Saints remained unbeaten on the season.

The Saints held a 5-3 advantage with just over two minutes left in the first quarter before taking control with five consecutive goals and doubling up the Bulldogs in the victory.  Limestone held the edge in both shots taken (50-38) and ground balls (50-27) while Danny Forren (Trumbell, Conn.) earned the win in goal after stopping 11 shots on the day.

For Barton, freshman attacker Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.) scored a team-high three goals – pushing his squad-leading total to 47 on the year – while sophomore midfielder Jake Copio (Smyrna, Del.) added two scores and an assist in the setback. Copio leads the squad in total points with 58.  Barton sophomore goalkeeper Matt Stocks (Endicott, N.Y.) made five saves but suffered the loss.

Barton wraps up the regular season with a date against North Greenville on Saturday, April 20, at Noon in league action while Limestone plays at Mount Olive next Saturday beginning at Noon as well.
