Barton’s Jake Copio named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Jake Copio has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, league officials announced earlier today.

Copio, a sophomore midfielder from Smyrna, Del., is the first player in program history to earn the honor. 

For the week, Copio totaled 14 points – seven goals and seven points – in addition to four ground balls in leading the Bulldogs to pair of victories over Wilmington (Del.) (13-12) in Norfolk, Va., and Emmanuel (Ga.) (19-14) at home on Tuesday and Saturday, respectively.

Copio was especially impressive against the Lions, finishing with five goals and six assists including the game-winner.  On the season, Copio leads the team in total points (52) and assists (21) to go along with 31 goals and 24 ground balls.

Barton (5-8, 3-1) has won four straight games and will next travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to take on Mount Olive on Wednesday, April 10, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
