BC men’s golf earns GCAA Team Academic Award for third consecutive year

WILSON, N.C. – For the third consecutive year, the Barton College men's golf program has been honored with a Team Academic Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The Bulldogs were recognized as an 18 Birdies All-Academic Team for maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average as a team during the 2017-18 academic year.

Barton was one of two teams from Conference Carolinas and five from the Southeast Region among the 40 NCAA Division II programs on the list nationally.

The 2017-18 roster included seniors Travis Broome, Turner Garris and Derek Hamm, juniors Brandon Munford, Scott Pechacek, Justin Plane and Logan Zimarino, sophomore Dominic O'Brien, and freshmen Bryson Boyette, Jared Dandy, Owen Dick, Tenzing Palden, Justin Poole and Austin Schone.

Eleven of the 14 players on the roster were named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll for either the fall 2017 or spring 2018 semester.
