TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team (27-23) rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat Barton (31-20), 9-5, in an elimination game Saturday afternoon at the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament at Ashmore Park.  The Bulldogs see their season come to an end with the setback.

Belmont Abbey, the fifth seed, takes on third-seeded Mount Olive (30-14) in another elimination game later tonight with the winner taking on the top seed – North Greenville (39-9) – Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Crusaders scored seven of their nine runs in the last two innings including a five-run ninth frame highlighted by the game-winning, two-run single from Jakob Rolly (Winter Springs, Fla.).  Belmont Abbey's Ben Sneider (Larkspur, Colo.) added two-run hits in both the eighth and ninth innings as the Crusaders avenged a setback to the Bulldogs in the league tournament two days earlier.

The Bulldogs – who jumped out to a 3-0 advantage – received RBI singles from senior catcher Juan Martinez (Weston, Fla.), senior pinch hitter Carter Brogden (Wake Forest, N.C.) and junior first baseman Chase Riker (Hampstead, N.C.).

On the mound, Belmont Abbey's Jason White (Concord, N.C.) improved to 3-2 after earning the victory while junior Fredrick May (Folsom, Calif.) fell to 1-2 after taking the loss for Barton.  The Bulldogs were also hurt by a pair of errors which led to five unearned runs.
