WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (12-7) equaled last year's win total with a 5-2 triumph over Catawba (13-4) Tuesday afternoon at Nixon Field.  The Indians came into the contest ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division II.

The Bulldogs took control with a four-run second inning courtesy of two-run hits from senior shortstop JoJo Allen (Clarksville, Tenn.) and freshman outfielder Jacob Marcos (Miami, Fla.).  Marcos leads the team with 20 runs batted in on the season.

Senior outfielder Troy Maslowski (Cary, N.C.) rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with a solo home run in the fifth inning – his first of the year – while senior Dylan Ward (Laurinburg, N.C.) improved to 2-0 on the season after pitching five scoreless innings to go along with three strikeouts.  Ward scattered four hits and the Bulldogs' staff allowed just one earned run the entire contest.

For Catawba, Jackson Raper (Concord, N.C.) drove in a run while Bryson Linkous (Mount Holly, N.C.) (1-1) was tagged with the loss.

Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play when the Bulldogs host Chowan on Friday at 2:30 p.m., while Catawba travels to Harrogate, Tenn., to take on Lincoln Memorial on Friday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
