WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College baseball team has released its 2019 schedule, second-year Head Bulldogs Coach Jim Chester announced recently.

The slate will feature 30 games at Nixon Field including the home opener against Nyack College – an NCAA Division II school in Nyack, New York – on Saturday, February 9, at Noon.

The Bulldogs' season opener takes place on Saturday, February 2, against Flagler in Saint Augustine, Fla.

The Conference Carolinas portion of the schedule begins on Friday, February 22, when the Bulldogs travel to Tigerville, S.C., to take on North Greenville, the defending regular season and tournament champions.  The Crusaders (46-10) were ranked No. 1 in the nation at one point last year and hosted the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament.

Barton will host another nationally-ranked and playoff qualifier from the Conference Carolinas – Belmont Abbey (40-14) – for a weekend series on Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, at Nixon Field.

"Our program is very excited about the 2019 season," said Chester.  "The 2019 schedule is challenging and competitive on all fronts.  Our non-conference schedule will prepare us for the rigors of our Conference Carolinas schedule."

Senior day weekend for Barton will take place on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, against league-foe Southern Wesleyan University.

"Our preparation and growth since the end of August has been outstanding," added Chester. "Opening weekend will be a great measuring stick as we take on Peach Belt Conference-power Flagler.  We are ready for the challenges of the 2019 season.  Our goal is to continue our growth week-to-week and make progress in all areas of the game and within our program."

Several of the top returnees for the Bulldogs include sophomore infielder Colby Warren (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) and senior outfielder Troy Maslowski (Cary, N.C.).  Warren was the 2018 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year after finishing with a .312 batting average and a team-leading 12 home runs and 31 runs batted in.  Maslowski, meanwhile, is a second-team all-league honoree after leading the team in hitting (.352) with three round-trippers, 17 doubles and 29 RBI.
