Chester announces 2018 baseball recruiting class

by Doug Page

WILSON, N.C. – Barton College baseball coach Jim Chester has announced that 45 players will be joining the Bulldogs heading into the 2019 season. Chester is starting his second season at the helm of the BC baseball program.

"Our staff has worked tirelessly to put this recruiting class together," Chester said. "We feel confident that these young men will represent the institution and the program at a high level on the field, in the classroom, and in the community."

Chester will have the help of five new assistant coaches this season. Zach Ullrich will be the Head Developmental/Assistant Coach for the Bulldogs, while Kramer Sneed, Anthony Marks, Gavin Hite, and Wiley Jackson will all be assistants on the staff.

This year's recruiting class for Barton will be comprised of student-athletes from 11 different states across the United States and one territory, Puerto Rico. The class is highlighted by 12 transfer students and 33 incoming freshmen.

New to the BC baseball program this year will be a developmental team that will allow younger players the chance to make the transition to collegiate baseball quicker.

"Our new developmental program will be an outstanding asset to Barton College Baseball," Chester noted. "This will allow our young players to hit the field early in their career and speed up the college baseball development process."
