HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College senior Trent Fennell has been named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Fennell fanned a career-high 16 batters and tossed a seven-inning complete game to improve to 4-1 on the season for the Bulldogs. The Dunn, N.C. resident allowed just two runs and scattered five hits in a 3-2 win for BC against Clarion University on Mar. 9 at Nixon Field.

Fennell leads the league in strikeouts (62), is tied for fourth in wins (4) and has tossed a pair of complete games.

While receiving player of the week accolades for the first time this season, Fennell garnered the award once last season.

The Bulldogs head to Francis Marion University on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with the Patriots at 6 p.m. Barton then returns home to host Kutztown University the next day for another non-conference matchup with the Golden Bears at 2 p.m.
