HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College baseball players Trent Fennell, Calvin Hawke, Troy Maslowski and Andrew Webster have each earned a spot on the Conference Carolinas All-Conference team, the league announced Thursday.
The four all-conference awards match last year's total and tie the program mark for the most all-conference selections since four players were honored following the 2009 season.
Fennell, a junior, was named to the First Team as a starting pitcher for the first time in his three-year career. The Durham, N.C. resident started 13 games on the mound and compiled a 7-1 overall record with five complete games.
The right-hander tossed 80 innings on the mound, allowing 42 runs (34 earned) for a 3.82 ERA with 93 strikeouts. His strikeout total is the most for a Barton pitcher since the school began NCAA Division II competition in 1995-96.
Hawke, a senior from Wendell, N.C., was named as the First Team All-Conference utility player after tying for the team lead and ranking second in the conference with a .400 batting average. The all-conference award is the second of Hawke's career after being named to the second team a year ago.
He totaled 66 hits during the regular season, including nine doubles, a school-record five triples and eight home runs, while driving in 38 RBI and scoring 44 runs. Hawke led the team and ranked second in the league with 28 stolen bases and recorded a .946 fielding percentage over 46 games.
Webster, a senior from Pittsboro, N.C., was recognized as a the First Team catcher for the second straight season after ranking first or second among all conference players in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, total hits, home runs and total RBI. The all-conference nod is the third award for Webster as he was a Second Team selection following his freshman season in 2013-14.
He turned in a .400 batting average during the regular season with 72 total hits, including 15 doubles and 21 home runs, to go along with a .507 on-base percentage and .833 slugging percentage. He drove in a league-high 55 RBI and scored 57 runs of his own in 49 games.
Maslowski was the second member of the Barton baseball team to received all-conference recognition for the first time after being named as a Second Team outfielder.
