RICHMOND, Va. – The Barton men's swimming team took home top honors at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon College, which concluded Saturday at the Greater Richmond Aquatic Partnership Poll.

The Bulldogs totaled 1,686 points while the Barton women's squad finished fourth overall with 1,125 points.  Randolph-Macon (1,583 points) won the women's competition.

Barton freshman Jonathan York (Midlothian, Va.) won the men's 1,650-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 16:04.54.  The time also gave the program its first-ever NCAA Division II "B" cut qualifying time to nationals.

York also set a new program mark in the men's 200-yard butterfly (1:54.61, good for second-place) while freshman Tegan Brown (Acworth, Ga.) won the men's 200-yard backstroke with a school-record time of 1:51.58.

Three other Barton men's swimmers won individual races:  junior Robert Zamorano (Woodstock, Ga.) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.85), sophomore Jaksa Gabric (Zagreb, CROATIA) in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.12) and junior Michael Cutidioc (North Hills, Calif.) in the 100-yard backstroke (52.22).

Zamorano and York were both part of the Bulldogs' first-place 200-yard medley (1:35.39) and 800-yard freestyle (7:00.69) relays.

On the women's side, sophomore Nicola Macdonald (Durban, SOUTH AFRICA) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (52.95) and freshman Adalaya Nemitz (Waxhaw, N.C.) was the top overall swimmer in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.59.  Both Nemitz and Macdonald were part of the Bulldogs' 400-yard freestyle relay which took first place overall (3:36.42).

The Barton women's team also established new school marks in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke courtesy of sophomores Kleanza Cathers (Kitimat, British Columbia, CANADA) and Kaylee Davis (Benson, N.C.) respectively, with times of 2:10.69 and 2:31.40.

The Barton men's and women's swimming teams next compete in a dual meet against Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C., on Saturday, January 5.
